I remember reading this book and being so scared about the sorcerer in the picture I set it down and didn't read it months. You have to give me some though because it could be very scary to a fifth grader!

I found myself loving this sequel more than the 1st installment. Charlie Bone once again is faced with a dilemma. Only this time, it's nearly 100 years in the making. Because of their closeness in age, Charlie refers to the misplaced boy, Henry, as his cousin.

Henry is one of Charlie's ancestors from the early 1900s, who's older cousin sends him to the future. In this case, the present time for Charlie and his classmates. Charlie's Aunts are not too happy when they figure out that Henry is 'back.' They are not nearly 100 years old, but they had been prepared in the event that Henry would 'return.'

Well, a drama unfolds when someone whom Charlie originally befriended decides to betray him and turn Henry in. In exchange for a personal favour which he may never actually get. So one could say that Billy, the Benedict Arnold, has been tricked into helping those who wish harm upon Henry.

In a sequel that gets one more star from me than it's prequel, Charlie and his classmates must outwit his outrageously childish Aunts and several employees of Bloor's Academy, and save Henry. It was an utterly fascinating read.

My notes:
February 19th, 2012/50.25%: "I'm gonna go broke buying the books in this series I don't already have LoL but it's still fascinating."

I really enjoyed the plot line of this book, and found that it was just as interesting as the first of this series, but unlike the first book, I noticed the characters were more relaxed (or maybe I didn't pick up on it as much as I did in the second book) and were willing to do anything to help anyone. That bothered me a lot. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends as much as the next guy, but would I really sneak out of bed and wander around a cold and dark castle knowing full well that another person can turn into a wild beast after midnight just for my friends? the answer is no - especially if the half human half animal hated my guts when they weren't transformed. Never the less, I did enjoy reading and would happily reread it.

When I read the first book in this series, I liked it, but I didn't LOVE it. I'd planned on eventually reading the rest but via the library. However, when I went to the used book store, I found they had the next 4 for only $2.50, so I picked them up. I think I'm glad I did. This was a pretty good book, but I felt we should have heard more from Henry. Overall, I still liked it a lot.

My first grader is enjoying this series. I am reading it to him. I don't find it to be a particularly great read aloud but he is loving it.
