Love Yaa Gyasi's writing. I enjoyed the way this book layered past and present so seemlessly. Beautiful and heart breaking.

I finished this book in public so I couldn’t cry but had I been alone I likely would have. Such a beautiful and heartbreaking moments that still managed to steal a few laughs from me due to Gyasis incredible writing and wit. I loved this book!

yaa gyasi’s reflections on science and religion, and their roles in human history and behavior, are so so striking!! what a beautiful and heart wrenching story, plus the little twist of weird harvard undergrad familiarity

Transcendent Kingdom is a heart wrenching and reflective exploration into themes of addiction, mental health and religion. Gifty’s journey with Christianity and subsequent deconstruction journey was extremely relatable and I loved how the nuance with which it was explored. Gyaasi’s writing is poetic without being overly flowery, and her ability to make me connect and feel each character’s emotions is masterful. And excellent read.
