I read this one right before Christmas, which is the exact right time to read it, but I don't think that it will be a problem afterwards (which is good as I gave it to a couple of my Godchildren.) I liked it better, if possible, than the first one. I really liked the underlying lesson a lot and thought that it was well told.
(In the interest of full disclosure, I know the fabulous Melinda, though I bought this book at arm's length from the publisher.)

This book is a sequel to "Shepherding Sam," and if the first book was great, this one is even better. I read it aloud to my 3, 6 and 9 year old children and the loved it. I have two boys and a girl, and there are characters and challenges in this book for everyone to identify with - even adults. My only feedback, in fact, is that the cover should have included Grace, one of the main girl characters in the story, because this really isn't just a book for boys. I love how the community in the story comes together for a celebration and how everyone, including the adults, learn something about how God answers prayer. I admit to choking up at the end, although I won't spoil it for readers! This and the first book, "Shepherding Sam," make wonderful gifts for the young readers in your life.
