Nothing says comfort read to me like a suspenseful Star Trek novel.

This was a second read for me and while it started off slow it finishes a main story line with very satisfying results. It’s also nice seeing the Enterprise go back to exploration after being entangled in political and military campaigns for the last several books.

Not as strong as the previous book, some of the resolutions felt shallow. Overall, a really relevant and intriguing series. It could be set anywhere, not just the Trek universe, which is what makes it an interesting read.

Satisfying end to a superior star trek series. His writing style irritated me for the first bit of the book as he seemed to be keen on telling back stories in a very clumsy way, anyone who is reading #5 of a 5 part series is likely to have read the previous books in my opinion. However the story seems to tie up lots of loose ends - the remaining ones may be the subject of further books?

This is a good solid book, definitely enjoyable but it wasn't quite the rip roaring rollercoaster ride of a finale I was expecting. The previous four books all seemed to build in momentum as we got closer to the finale, which this book seemed to lose a little. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to seeing how the events of these novels affect future Star Trek stories.
