This one kept my interest enough to continue but the main characters are not my favorite.

The drama, the angst, the anticipation, the twist. This is the worl created by Pepper Winters. Once again I am blown away. I also become frustrated. I want to know what is happening in Jericho's past.

What makes him the tormentor? In this book it reveals a little then the other drama takes the story away from him. The suspense is abundance. And yet I still do not know much about Jericho.

Moving on to book 4 then.

I am reviewing this book from my own personal copy.

This family is a bunch of animals. Second debt has been nailed and it's all I can do to not scream in frustration. Amazing imagery and world building from this author and I loved the polo scene. Nothing makes sense anymore though after finishing this damn book. Everyone's loyalties are out the window, and I wish Jethro would pull out a gun and pick some of them off. Please! I couldn't imagine growing up in a household like this. Nila has to remain strong, I just wish I knew what was coming so I could prepare myself. Debts be damned. Five stars!

So, I was under the impression that everyone was slowly becoming smart after book two. People were a bit less on the a-hole side and all these big secrets were coming out...

But then book three happened. Now. Let me get something straight before people jump all over my frame for not 'realizing' this is a 'dark book'. I know it's a dark book that's why I'm reading it. I'm not a stranger to dark reads, I live in a sea of horror, zombie, and dystopian which have much the same themes as dark books. However, I believe those. They aren't stretched so far out that I'm left feeling disgusted with myself that I read it and took time out of my day to read them. They are properly plotted and arc'd.

Is this series? No. Let me tell you why. From what I gathered this series was intended to be a serial series of novellas. Okay. I'm down with that I love a quick read when that's all I got time for. So, I invested in the series. Then the author threatens to pull book one because people aren't 'getting it' or something melodramatic scenario. Then suddenly 'her words were getting away with her they will all be full length books'. Now, I didn't really like book one so I was sighing, but morbidly curious. So I read the long winded book two and enjoyed it. People seemed to actually humanize and not be stains of society.

Then this book happened and I was so ragey about it and for soooo not the reasons people think. I'm upset because this isn't a full length plot. This is a serial plot being reworked into a full-length series. You know how I know? Because the characters inner dialogue keeps repeating itself and the first 60% of the book was a regurgitation of the second book. Literally! Then we roll into the debt. That's why we are reading this right? To be totally horrified by the debt and then gush over what excuse Jericho makes about actually doing the debt to make it all okay to TSTL Nila. (FYI strong female leads don't fall for psychopaths)

Anyways
Spoiler The next debt he has to drown her and then once she's fully dead bring her back to life. Then it's a mind blowing experience for our Nila and she's more so in love with Jericho because he brought her back from the dead. Oh, but I'm not done. Nila's family manages to get cops involved they raid the house and she DOESN'T WANT TO GO! Okay, I'm sorry folks this isn't sane or normal behavior, you can say all you effing want that this is fiction and for fun. Yeah so is Days of our Lives but it doesn't make it good or well-written entertainment!

Yeah. So all that.

I'm mad because the author turned this into a full length to make 3.99 an installment when her serial would've taken .99 a piece. It is all very cagey to me and I don't believe anything happening in this world and that's supposed to be the author's job. To make me believe the impossible. But I don't.

The series is killing me in the best of ways! It is inventive, erotic and twisty! It is the best of all worlds!! I cannot wait to get started on the next book yet want to drag it out as long as possible. I am head over heels for Jet!!
