Definitely not my typical read. Oh how to classify this genre… RomCom just doesn’t seem right, but i liked it. Oddly lighthearted for the main plot 😬 I loved Medde and Nathan’s college romance development, but I kept feeling so mad that she wouldn’t tell her family with believing in the curse. Medde gutted me too. Nathan got custody of me in the split. Anyway, a couple things were off for me. First, I loved the idea of the Aunties, but they weren’t very defined as their own characters. They all basically felt like the same character for me. Secondly, there was a lot of lying and withholding of information and it felt too close to miscommunication trope for my liking. Overall, though it was an enjoyable read.

Ik vond de humor leuk, maar er was geen "adempauze" met al deze gebeurtenissen.

I understand why this book is so popular! It was such a whirlwind of fun, family, and wedding chaos. Obviously the entire premise was ridiculous and it only got more over-the-top as the book went on. You do have to suspend your disbelief at certain points, but it's definitely a fun ride. The central conflict of Meddy embracing her own dreams even when they conflict with her family's was really powerful, and the epilogue put a huge smile on my face. I recommend this one and I'm so excited for the movie!

This book was amazing, incredibly funny and a spark of joy in my life! The Aunties are simply amazing and the Indonesian Chinese culture is so precious,I loved all the traditional ceremonies before the wedding, especially the one where the groom has to do some dares to enter in the the bride’s chambers! The dynamics between Meddy and her Aunties were epic! That women should revisit their priorities ahah my favorite Auntie? Second Aunt for sure, she and her Tai Chi moves killed me every time! 
The miscommunication was golden and the cause of all these problems ahah
