What a beautiful ending. I was really moved by how the story and themes converged in an epic and emotional ending. Immediately I knew this book was beautifully written and was going to have strong themes and motifs. This was truly a work of art. I decided to annotate it on my first read which I rarely do because of how moved I was by the prose. With all that being said it took a while for me to get into the story as I am not typically a fan of stories about family dramas and interpersonal relationships, but this book is so much more than that. I loved the characters development. Even with such a big cast Cordova is able to breathe life into all her characters. I’d definitely recommend to everyone.

What a wild, vivid ride this was. There were some parts of this that were a bit overly complicated and hard to catch listening the first time, but overall, it was an extremely enjoyable and original story. I felt pulled into the book and would happily read it again. Would also love to see this visualized on screen. The final third in particular seems perfect for it.
