This is a mafia romantic suspense. Is dark, suspenseful, edgy, action packed, with badass characters.
This series is set on St. Monarch, an academy where every mafia kid goes to train to become: an assassin, a custodian, arms, smuggler, etc - so it’s like a college but for mafia

This is my first book by this author and I'll definitely be reading on. St. Monarch's Academy teaches assassins and their protectors tools of their trade. Winter goes there because she wants to be able to protect her father and brother as they are diamond smugglers. This book was so full of action and I loved the connection between Winter and Damien. If you love romantic suspense, read this one!

This book was quite a great start for the St. Monarch's Academy series, it's a dark mafia romance full of suspense and one that will hook you up from the start. I went in blind and glad I did, it was such an amazing ride, full of emotions, and suspense. Definitely, one you need to read if you like this type of book. Damien and Winter's story is one you will not want to miss.

I love all the books in the series and for some reason I never read the first book until now. As much as I love the story between Winter and Damien I feel like there was so much missing in between. I feel like the book was rushed and it could’ve went into more detail. I would’ve loved to read more about why Winters dad contracted Damien as a custodian. I think that requires more detail then just finding out that Winters dad was watching both of them and that they had a unusual close bond. Also it would’ve been nice to have more interaction with her dad and brother so you could understand their bond more in Winters need for revenge. I recommend to continue reading the other books in the series because they are so much better than this first book!

Was it childish? For how easy everything seemed to be, super.
Was it cheesy? Oh one hundred percent. Majority of the story took place within 5 weeks. 5! And they were super duper tight and in love. Love at first sight or not, that didn’t make much sense to me. Though if you ignored the making sense part, it was fun.
Was it predictable? Ye…but it was exciting anyway.
The MCs? I guess they were…fine? I don’t know. I think Winter was strong but her words could be kinda…cringey sometimes. Stop calling yourself a blood princess
