Enjoyed this one a lot. I loved Heidi and Jason, but was a bit frustrated with Heidi’s father (as in, more than I think the book wanted to me). What he put Heidi through with all her “odd jobs” seemed like an abuse of his power (and I wondered why nobody - Becca or Nate for example - told him to shove it). But I loved Heidi for her attitude and spirit.

I’m a huge fan of hockey romance, and this is definitely a great series about hockey! This is book 5 in the Brooklyn Bruisers series and it was my second favorite in this series. I really enjoyed it. This books follows Heidi and Jason, with so much good angst! I’ve been reading a lot of angsty romance lately and this was just the icing on the cake. The angst wasn’t annoying and dragged out. Heidi was absolutely Hilarious and she honestly felt very real and in a way relatable. I loved her comments throughout the book and being able to read about her real inner thoughts. Jason was of course the very hot hockey star, and it was really interesting seeing how his past ties into his current life. I also kinda liked seeing him struggle when it came to his attraction to Heidi and how he had to deal with it since the beginning of the story. Now I really hope that this series comes to an end with Silas😁😁

You know who the real sensation is? Heidi Jo Pepper. Who is the MVP? Hot Pepper. Who carried this story on her southern belle shoulders? Heidi Jo fucking Pepper.

So, yeah, OVERNIGHT SENSATION has the dubious honour of breaking my status update silence because of the sheer boredom I had for the first, hm, forty percent? But oh my Heidi. She didn't come to play. She proved her father wrong (who, by the way, was a dick), she hustled, she charmed the pants off everyone within a twelve mile (is that far? I don't know, I'm Canadian, we use kilometres.. pretend it's a lot!) radius, she got shit done, she was the "good" girl while still getting hers, and oh man. Some of the one liners.. priceless.

Am I in love with Heidi Jo Pepper? Maybe.

As for the hero, I mean, whatever. Jason had his moments. But what a grumpy cloud-following wet blanket. I'm not dismissing his damage or baggage but ugh. Not Bowen's best hero by a long shot.

Also, this is the second book by this author (though the other one was co-written) where a character is doling out money for guilt/remorse/sad reasons and maybe can we not with that? I find that an ugly plot point. We need to move on.

So, whatever, this series continues to not-wow me but it's mostly consistent in rating. However I am very interested in a certain character and his backstory with a certain pop star so, like the predictable gremlin I am, I'll read on.

I was pretty meh on this book, tbh. Definitely my least favorite of the Brooklyn Bruisers books so far. I thought Heidi veered into caricature territory one too many times, and while I liked her and Castro together, I was never fully invested in them and their relationship in the way I was in many of the other pairings in this series.

I'm really excited for Silas's book though.

Smitten and in love with this book!

This is my very first book from Sarina Bowen, and I'm so happy I've read it. I have enjoyed being transported into an amazing book world that wouldn't have appealed to me as I don't know anything about ice hockey. I felt so much a part of this world and the characters are so relatable. The chemistry is so electric between Heidi and Jason. 100% unsustainable- it ticks every thing in my list for a memorable romance story. Strong relatable characters, sexy, sweet, funny, emotional, easy read with a first person narrative flowing seamlessly. Brilliant all round! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I just hate it when a lovely book about healing and moving on from a tragic loss of life at a young age and a separate story about gaining independence to live life on your own terms keep getting interrupted by a romance.

Fun read!

I really enjoyed these two! I loved the banter between them! Jason is funny and Heidi gives as good as she takes the jokes and ribbing. I loved the way that she kept surprising Jason with what she was capable of (the different things she could) that just seemed a little different for her. I loved that she had tried so many things. I loved her attitude and how she kept handling what was thrown at her. This was a fun read and I can’t wait for the next one.

i really enjoyed this! i loved the main characters, especially heidi. she was smart and funny and kind and so much fun to read about. the romance was very cute, they have both been attracted to the other person for a long time. heidi was more shameless and upfront about it, but not in an embarrassing way. they had so much chemistry and became even sweeter after they got together. i also loved how heartwarming the friendships in this book were. i can't wait to read more books in this series!
