it has to be said : that book would have been damn perfect without johnny being rich and absolutely NEEDING to buy expensive things and talk about replacing everything in eliza’s life by something shinier. all her hard work is suddenly erased by a man who swoops in and suddenly wants to buy everything for her sister and her. it’s deeply sexist and unnecessary (can you see the reverse happening ? or him doing that for a brother of hers? nah it’s only men saving women)
it’s really too bad the author included that and several instances because they were damn sweet

I want to Gamble

This book was a fun read, start to finish. Johnny Gamble is the type of man I think a lot of women would love, including me. He and Iz are great together.

Will add more tomorrow.

Okay so I really really enjoyed the easy feel of this KA story. It screamed for me old KA. I loved our H. He was perfect. Sweet, and alpha, and a step away from the jerk at first Hs KA writes so it was a breathe of fresh air. I also liked that our h wasn’t a door mat or in any way was she weak. She held her own. She had a life and a home and knew how to take care of things. I loved that she was sweet and selfless. Definitely not my all time fave but I will say it’s gonna be a re read for sure.

I found this one too predictable and hearts and flowers, nothing really goes on.

kinda upset that i didn’t love this as much as everyone else did :( i fell in love with the synopsis and prayed it would live up to all the five star reviews i previously read, and i suppose in some ways it did, but overall i was just not in love with this book.

i did like/love the characters in this novel, iz especially, and her relationship with johnny and her sister were really interesting to read about. the plot itself wasn’t at all what i was really expecting, but it was still enjoyable, nonetheless. my biggest issue was with the writing. the dialect and sentence structures throughout this book meshed with my comprehension and ability to read, and idk if it’s just bc i’m dumb or something but i swear i had the hardest time actually just reading this novel. i’m still not entirely sure what it was about the writing that turned me off, but i can safely say that i most likely will not be reading another book by this author.

the negative stuff aside, i really did enjoy reading the novel, plot and character wise. i felt like the characters were really fleshed out and had their own spark and uniqueness that was nice to read. again, the relationships within this book were another favorite as they all felt genuine and real and caring. overall, i did enjoy this book, just sadly not as much as i was hoping too.

I am so pleased by this book. I waited so patiently, finishing my uni exams before I started it.

KA has done it again! Characters I love and feel real. She also held back on the ramblings and mundane activities that tend to draw her books on (sometimes a little too much). There were also much less honey's! Replaced by babe/baby and I am so much better with that.

I really loved Izzy. She was smart and down to earth and normal and rational. She had flaws but they didn't make me want to rip my hair out.

Johnny was amazing. I was so so worried about the runner-up girl trope. I really didn't enjoy Jagged for that reason, but KA has improved in her story telling and character pacing! This was so great, Johnny was great and strong and alpha, but also sensitive to where Izzy was at.

I was honestly expecting it to be longer, it seemed like there were some scenes that could have been included and maybe more about some characters or even more characters in general. This felt short for a KA. Not as short as Broken Hero (or w/e that series is called; y'know, Knight/Deacon/etc), but short nonetheless.

I would have also liked a little more action and a little more posse from Johnny, but all in all I thought it was a really nice start to a new KA series!!

I don't know if Toby's book will be next? It seems like no based on the epilogue...? But I'm excited to see who's up next!!

I don't understand how this book has such good reviews. It was not well written and the characters were one dimensional. The author's love of repetition and sentence fragments turned me off almost immediately. Johnny was not an alpha male - he was controlling, domineering, and violent. He told Izzy what to wear, what to eat, and even where to sit. There were so many screaming red flags to this guy, she should have run as fast as she could in the opposite direction. I really hope women who read this book don't start thinking this is the type of guy they need to find. Instead of an alpha male, they will end up with a controlling abuser.

I don't think I'm impartial with Kristen Ashley reviews anymore... Since I'm in constant hungover for new KA books, I was anxiously waiting for this new series. It seemed really promising, and the blurb got my hopes up (I was hoping for something like Hold On from The 'Burg)
In the end I gave it 4 stars, since it is a KA book and I will (almost) always love what she writes.. But to be honest, if I forgot who wrote this, I probably wouldn't give it more than 3 stars... I mean, it is a enjoyable read, perfect to read during the holidays and all...
It is just that I was hoping for more... more angst, more drama, not a so easy romance development... just more
