overall an informative read. as it went on it started to feel like a list of medications to try and i started skimming it. i enjoyed the chapters about the origins and potential causes of the condition.
i was extremely skeptical about the part where she talks about energy healing and how that can alleviate trauma. i’m happy it worked for the author and overall, if something like that helps alleviate someone’s pain, then great. but it felt weird to include to me.

Well written and packed full of useful and interesting information.
It is definitely helping me with getting my head around a fibromyalgia diagnosis. I will be following up and re-reading large parts of the book.
Recommended.

This book is incredibly helpful as a patient education guide. I wish I had pushed myself to read it when I was first diagnosed, as I desperately needed information on drug intervetions that were effective and safe. Reading it now has reaffirmed that I am taking useful medications and focusing on the right areas of self-improvement. I appreciate that every chapter in the book is focused on one area of intervention, with references to past chapters and chapter wrap-up that includes bulleted lists of information and suggested actions. This is an extremely useful layout to people with fibromyalgia, since we often have memory and concentration problems. However, since the book is nearing ten years old, I would love to see an updated edition.

Took me a while to get through because it's a lot to digest- especially with fibro fog (almost a year). Incredibly informative and truly a little medical guide in a book; like a fibromyalgia bible. Some information is outdated (that's science baby) and obviously you should consult with a doctor but there's even a guide in there for doctors. It also lists out all of the studies it references in the back. Everything is super well organized. If you can't afford to consistently see a doctor this book could be a life safer. Keeping this one around in my house so I can have informed conversations about my health with my HCP.
