The plottwists surprised me, which to me is a hallmark of good writing. Additionally, the multiple pov actually added to the narrative line of the plot, each offering different pieces of the puzzle. Lastly, having bought and read at least a third of the book while being on the island and just having toured the place, definitely added to the reading experience. The descriptions match the place very well (the parts that were open to the public, at least). Will now read the rest of the boooks in the series.

This was a fun mystery set on an island off Cornwall at Christmas. The atmosphere was there, the mystery was intriguing, and the way it all came together in the end was neat and tidy (perfect for Christmas).

I really loved this book and it's probably one of my favourite murder mystery books. There were so many plot twist and it was impossible to predict the murder, ending or plot, making it all the more mysterious and intriguing.

To be in a castle at Christmas with a bit of murder to pass the time

I read this before a trip to Cornwall but hadn't read any of the previous books in the series. It's okay as a stand-alone but I know I missed prior main character development that would have made it more enjoyable. It is a cozy murder mystery set at Christmas with plenty of twists and turns, and told through several characters' points of view.
