I only made it 2 hours in to the audiobook before quitting. The female narrator reads the book like it's IKEA furniture assembly instructions.

So the hero finds himself in the exact same situation that his twin brother went through in the previous book of finding his mate in an enemy Jaguar woman. What a coincidence. His bother is the one person who knows exactly what he's going through. I was looking forward to a conversation between them where they acknowledge how ironic this all is, but nope. When he reveals the truth to his brother, he acts just like his father did previously, like this is a deal breaker and he can't accept this information. Seriously??!

Honestly that's where the book lost me, but I stuck it out for another hour or so before calling it quits. I wasn't feeling the chemistry, and it grew tiring hearing how much they each despise themselves. I am much more interested in her past with Sebastian but I don't think it's going to be worth it to read on in the current mood I'm in with this book.

I suppose that you could read HUNTER'S MOON as a stand alone, but why would you want to? Take my advice and pick up book 1 MOONLIGHT before diving into book 2. We originally meet Sasha and Aren as supporting characters in MOONLIGHT when Sasha kidnaps him to get to Lana and even though she shot him he can't get her out of his mind.

Sasha was turned against her will and instead of embracing her new life she does everything in her power to chase the past. Now there is a rogue after her and he's threatening her sister. She turns to the last person expected to help her out. When Aren was taken by Sasha in book 1 it only took one touch to know that Sasha was his mate. Although he hates the idea he can't help but chase after her and keep her safe from those intent on hurting her.

I am always worried when I go into a series with different main characters in each book but again I worried for nothing. The non-stop action and danger that these characters brought to the book keeps you on your toes. The attraction and tension between Aren and Sasha was just as steamy as I wanted it to be. You can't help but fall in love with the supporting characters as well as your reading. I enjoyed the continued storyline with its new twists and I look forward to seeing whose story will be thrown in next. I fell head over heels for this series with book 1 and book 2 did not disappoint!

She hit me with a taser gun, she shot me and she kidnapped me but I still love her, that has to be what is going through Aren's mind throughout this book- lol. That sentence does not even come close to describing everything in this book, ever hear the phrase, "tip of the iceberg"? That's what that sentence is, this book is so full of wanting, needing, not thinking you are good enough and LOVE. Deep love that only your animal can feel even when your human side is not wanting to face the truth that is right in front of you. Sasha has done everything wrong in the wolf clan's eyes but Aren knows there is good in her yet what is he willing to do to find it? The answer, anything! Go against his Alpha, and protect the woman that has done so much destruction to his clan. But most of all love the one woman that will give him everything he needs to make his life complete.
I enjoyed book one in this series but I have to say, I loved Aren, he was a take charge kind of wolf and doesn't really give a rat's ass about what the other wolves think. Sasha is one of those tough on the outside but soft on the inside kind of female leads. She cares about herself but cares way more about her younger sister. When an evil man from her past threatens her life and the life of her sister, Sasha will fight with everything she has to terminate the threat from her past.

description
Sasha has a dislike for men because of the idiot Sebastian who turned her under the pretense of flirtation and romance. She's since decided not to trust any man with possible romantic intentions because as a cop, she should have known Sebastian was lying - obviously not true but she's stubborn like that. Aren has his work cut out for him convincing Sasha he wants her for the long term but he's not afraid of working for his mate. It's amusing he found her during a tussle when she head butts him to get away!

I thought I wouldn't like Sasha because she was technically a bad guy in the last book and while I refuse to forgive her for messing up Aren's ankle I ended up with a soft spot for ex-cop, gun blazing jaguars. I admire her commitment to protecting her sister even if I found her self-blaming a little annoying. There is only so much one can continue exist believing they should have done something different before you just have to accept it and move on! Thankfully Sasha gets there in the end with some help from alpha male Aren. I love that they do yoga together, it's too cute! Their relationship is a trust roller coaster thanks to buttface Sebastian but Aren is willing to put his whole life on the line for Sasha so they work it out.

The prejudice against jaguars in the werewolf pack is still alive and kicking. It will be interesting how Kessler develops the plot to help all of these stuck up wolfies get over themselves. This book is well worth the read - the plot is dynamic with enough twists to keep you guessing and the characters have enough spunk to fill several more books. I've added this to my list of shifter books to read and I can't wait for the next book to come out - I can tell it's going to be a stunner! Only 3 stars because it's not much different from other shifter romance books and there isn't anything in particular that would set it apart despite it's great characters.

A happy 4 stars to Hunter's Moon by Lisa Kessler :) Check out my full review on Book Chick City: http://www.bookchickcity.com/2013/10/all-hallows-eve-2013-review-hunters-moon-by-lisa-kessler.html

Just want my VERDICT?? Here you go:

Sasha and Aren’s story was a rocky, tumultuous, breathtaking one, which had me ripping through its pages in earnest. They were starkly different people, who had to learn trust and forgiveness, and their path drew out completely different emotions than that of Lana and Adam’s story. While different, I still found myself truly invested in Sasha and Aren’s relationship and future, and I look forward to catching up with them in future books. As always, Kessler’s writing was fabulous. I was delighted to fall back into the world of the Moon series, and simply cannot wait for book three.

In Hunter's Moon (Moon #2) by Lisa Kessler, Wolf Aren has every reason to hate Sasha. The jaguar shifter tried to kill both him and his twin brother, Adam, to get to Adam's mate, Lana. The problem is that Sasha is Aren's one and only mate. He curses fate for bringing him someone he can't trust and wonders if he's doomed to live alone craving a woman who doesn't want him.

'Without a drop of make-up on, weapons at the ready at all times, she was hands down the sexiest woman I'd ever known.'

Aren and Sasha find themselves on the same side of the fight for a change when Nero becomes a bigger threat to them both. Aren takes the opportunity to learn more about his mate and to try to convince her that they could work through their issues and form a relationship. But will the sassy former detective listen to a word he says?

"I'm damaged goods," she whispered against my chest. "I can't be what you need. I'm terrified of making another mistake. The last time I thought someone cared, he stole my life from me."

Sasha has no idea why she is drawn to green-eyed wolf Aren, but she can't bring herself to harm him anymore. That is, until he starts his delusional talk of 'mates' and 'forever'. She's tried love before and it ruined her life and came back to bite her. Literally. But Sasha can't seem to get away from Aren, especially when he can help her get back at Nero and what they have done to her life and career.

"I love this car."
Aren turned my way, and the smile on his face reached all the way inside of me to touch places I thought had died years ago.
A dash of fear mingled with the adrenaline.
I could love a lot more than his car.'

Hunter's Moon is an intense and passionate new paranormal by Lisa Kessler. Book two in the Moon series picks up where Moonlight (book one) left off but includes a lot of the backstory, so it can definitely be read as a standalone.

I thought the pacing of the plot was perfect, with just enough romance and action/fight scenes to keep the reader interested. And the characters. Wow! I fell in love with both Aren and Sasha. They both had personal struggles that made it difficult for them to trust others, but I could feel their longing to be together even in the face of their situation. Aren and Sasha were also both very easy to relate to. They love their family and will protect them at all costs and they are both good people underneath all the choices they must make.

I hope you get a chance to read Hunter's Moon. Especially if you are a fan of an action-packed, sexy Paranormal story...it's highly recommended.
