I read all the shorter poems, and the longer ones seemed more challenging. I'm on it, though.

some deeply intimate and, at times, cryptic works. his short stories are by far his strong suit (at least for an audience) but his poetry isn't the worst — it's just elementary yet indecipherable at times.

Short and sweet. A good time of year to read Poe’s work. My favorite was Dream-Land.

I'd forgotten how difficult some of these poems were to read. In the sense of language and contractions of words and stuff. I've also been reminded that I really have a hard time reading really dense poems because I honestly get bored out of my mind most of the time.
Anyway, this is still a great collection of poems and I'm so happy that I bought it way back when. Poe was a great writer there's no denying that. Of course I like The Raven, but I think one of my favourites is Annabelle Lee. There's just something about this one that I really like.

A macabre collection of classic poetry. I've always been more of a fan of Poe's short stories over his poetry, so this collection was a miss for me, unfortunately. Other than the obvious hits like "The Raven" and "Annabel Lee" (and sleepers like "Alone"), I didn't really care for this.

Edgar Allen Poe never fails to hit, but I’m biased.

Ours is a world of words: Quiet we call
"Silence” — which is the merest word of all.
