I enjoyed this genre bending book but was honestly confused half the time and couldn’t keep all the characters straight. It was a bit much for a stand alone 300 page book. Also kinda spicy? Was not expecting that to just be dropped in every now and then.
I saw a review say you won't like this book if you need a magic system to have rules and descriptions and not exist 'just because' and that is exactly me as a fantasy reader. The magic system needs to be heavily detailed and explained or i'm not into it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you like a dark gothic fantasy, the premise of this is very intriguing, it made seem almost like knives out but with a paranormal twist. Maybe it was my fault for going into it with such expectations. I did not enjoy this book as much as I thought I would, it was compelling until it wasn’t.
The writing was absolutely beautiful. Also the characters well were developed and the pacing of the story was not too bad as well.

This book was weird. Heavy on the earth magic and fantastical elements and really good. Orquídea Divina has always kept her secrets but now that she's transformed (some say dead, but Miramar keeps pointing out that the tree is alive) those secrets are starting to cost lives. Will her grandchildren be strong enough to defeat the evil that she could not?
