I only read this to the end because of sids pov, shes so witty and her story was interesting. But with nirrims heart gone, her pov was hard to read. Her cruel behavior wouldve been okay with a good writing style, but this wasnt really good either. So the stars are mainly for Sid. The third "god" perspective did add a mysterious tone to it which i liked. But my favorite part of the first part(the banter and tension between nirrim and sid) was sadly missing in this one

I loved that in the sequel you get to read Nirrim as well as Sid's side of the story. In the first book Sid has been painted as a very proud, untouchable and strong character and you get to see so much more vulnerability in this sequel, that makes her an even more interesting character. I also loved to know more about the God's, so I enjoyed reading the perspective of one particular god - and finally learning just how exactly they fit into the story. I also liked getting to know more about what exactly had been taken from Nirrim when she struck that deal with the God of Thieves at the end of The Midnight Lie. All in all it was a fastpaced book that showed different perspectives and different plots before it all comes together in the end and I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you to Netgalley for giving me an e-arc of this book.
The midnight lie was one of my favourite reads of 2020 which made this be one of my most anticipated releases. I was really expecting it to be a 5-star read but in the end, it fell a bit short and I gave it only 4 stars. I really enjoyed this book and with this trilogy, I grew to love Marie's writing, will definitely be looking into her other books very soon. I really love the different POVS, and how they interchanged with each other, as it made it easy to follow the timeline. However, I really struggled to connect with Nirrin this time and, yes, I understand that it wouldn't make sense for her to be written in another way but oh did she pissed me off. I loved how we got to see more into Sid's life and relationships, how we found so much more of her personality through this book. I also really enjoyed the "narrated" parts on the third POV we got.
I enjoyed the end and liked how it was plotted but I felt that it was a bit rushed.
Overall, it was a really enjoyable read.
