Thank you to Netgalley for giving me an e-arc of this book.
The midnight lie was one of my favourite reads of 2020 which made this be one of my most anticipated releases. I was really expecting it to be a 5-star read but in the end, it fell a bit short and I gave it only 4 stars. I really enjoyed this book and with this trilogy, I grew to love Marie's writing, will definitely be looking into her other books very soon. I really love the different POVS, and how they interchanged with each other, as it made it easy to follow the timeline. However, I really struggled to connect with Nirrin this time and, yes, I understand that it wouldn't make sense for her to be written in another way but oh did she pissed me off. I loved how we got to see more into Sid's life and relationships, how we found so much more of her personality through this book. I also really enjoyed the "narrated" parts on the third POV we got.
I enjoyed the end and liked how it was plotted but I felt that it was a bit rushed.
Overall, it was a really enjoyable read.

It's really hard to review series finales. Really hard. So anyways I absolutely adore Nirrim and Sid as characters and every scene with them together made me incredibly happy.

Bravo, Marie. Your efforts and hard work are evidently shown in every page of your books. Thank you for this wonderful duology !

I felt like i was running in circles throughout this whole book. The characters were separate too long, and I was forced to dislike one of the best female protags (Kestrel from the Winner’s Curse). Yeah no

Acredito que a ideia da série é boa, mas a execução deixou a desejar.

This book is a sapphic fever dream in all the best ways. It's about what happens when you lose yourself. Sid and Nirrim are back, and neither of them are the same people that they were in book one. Good luck everybody else! But for real prayer circle for all the citizens in NIRRIM'S kingdom. Do things get easier? Does Nirrim finally come to her senses? Does Sid get to play the hero she's always dreamt of being??? Come sit next to me and listen, and we'll find out. I will mildly spoil that this is very much Sid's book, as book one was Nirrim's. I adore that Sid is somewhere on the enby spectrum and completely related to her experience in regard to gender/gender presentation.

Thank you to NetGalley for a preview copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Everything about Nirrim is *chefs kiss*. She is my dream unhinged character. Wish we got more from her POV (her chapters were much shorter than Sids) but what we did get was the perfect spiral of a character losing their grip on reality.

The ending was beautiful, though a bit quick. I would’ve liked to dive deeper into the next phase of their relationship.
