this was just a really funny and easy-going book but it also discusses important topics.
Nothing phenomenal but a nice, refreshing read from all the fantasy I’ve been reading so far.

Freaky Friday with a tweenage boy and girl. A good one for fans of realistic fiction who might want to dip a toenail into fantasy.

Okay so there is a good reason why I only gave this two stars. I did not like the "stop acting like a girl" "you're such a sissy" type of language that occurred in the book and I was hoping that the author would turn the tone around. She did, but to me it felt too rushed and it wasn't worked out properly which is why I was left with a bad vibe from the book. I won't say I won't try out any other books from this other. This book just wasn't for me and I'm quite surprised that it was nominated as a South Carolina Book Award.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, this book. I like the concept, but it was played out weird. I wish it was kind of different. It could've been better if the characters were more mature/older. Plus the amount of times I said "That's sexist." when reading this book is bad, yikes. The ending is a BIG yikes!

Somehow, the characters became step-siblings? I just don't like that at all.blackthorn2221's review against another edition

To be completely honest, I thought that this book would end up being a cheesy middle school romance where Ellie and Jack switch their body and lives for a while, then start developing feelings for each other. But I was COMPLETELY wrong! It's pretty similar to Freaky Friday, but with the most hottest guy in the school & an athletic girl.
This story is about love, not the romance kind of love, but about loving your family and yourself. The story is also about being grateful for the life you have, who you are, and not letting others make you feel bad about yourself.
I was also very surprised by the way the author ended the story. I honestly never thought something like that would happen, but I'm very happy that everyone was happy again.

This is such a fun story! The characters are the most likable I've come across in a while, and they have problems almost any kid can relate to. It's refreshing to read a young adult title that's not focused on romance--these days, it seems like even the thrillers and mysteries have a strong romantic element. The end wraps up a bit too neatly, but I admit that I was happy to see things end so well for these kids I'd gotten attached to.
