✨Restore Me by J.L. Seeger’s✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved this story about love WHILE grieving, not after grief like we usually see, but someone actively realizing they can love again while still dealing with their ongoing feelings of loss. This late husband’s best friend story showed perfectly that you don’t have to give up the feelings for the one you lost, just to love someone new; you can hold them both in your heart.

“Dom was the one holding the needle that stitched my heart back together. And he’d done it quietly, carefully, and at great cost to himself because he knew there was no hope in finding the pieces of my heart that I’d lost four years ago when Eric died, so he gave me pieces of his instead. Using them to put mine back together again, to make me whole. To restore me”

I did have 2 small qualms though, the book was too damn long

Cried and Laughed!

Sometimes you buy a book recommended from booktok and expect it to be overrated, boring and a waste of time. This is not that book.

Seegars manages to write a compelling story with an enemies to lovers trope that is so refreshing and sweet to read. You fall in love with each character and their flaws and feel a concoction of emotions (anger, joy, tense) as you flow through the well thought out story.

However, at times I found the dialogue too un relatable or cringey, which would put me off the otherwise amazing description and scene setting going on. I loved the chemistry and the fact the book is written via two perspectives! It truly was a joy to read and almost wishes you could carry on reading about how their lives end up and what goes on in the future.

Man!! This book was such a slow burn but so worth it. Sloane and Dominic's stories were elaborate. But once you get into the story and understand their chemistry you don't want their story to end.

Fiction as a whole is just boring me.

The male characters thoughts, dialogue, everything are so clearly written by a woman… I think this would hit harder as a WLW story

omg

This was a love story I never knew I needed. Dom and Sloane’s situationship was unexpected, horrible but perfect at the same time. I absolutely loved this story and once i started reading this I could stop.
