This is the first book I ever experienced as an audiobook! I loved the movie, and when I heard that Armie Hammer was narrating the audiobook, I had to listen to it. Call Me By Your Name is full of desire--as well as the doubts, discomfort, and drama that accompany it--and I found myself hypnotized by Elio's narration. His thoughts, even as he recounts them however so many years after the events of the book, grounds the story with a sort of presence. The heat of a summer in Italy not only shows the intimacy Elio fervently wants, but also the impression the experience has branded on him--so hot that even its memory continues to burn years after.

there's a lot to unpack here
liked:
the writing
a few important messages scattered here and there
disliked:
the borderline predatory relationship between elio and oliver
were definitely parts that i felt were weird/uncomfortable and struggled to see the "beauty" behind it (ex. peach scene, bathroom scene)
personally couldn't relate to the level of obsession elio was at

however, i'm a young straight girl who's never been in love, so i'm definitely not the target audience
maybe i'll come back after a few heartbreaks to unlock the wisdom and emotions that this book supposedly holds

Good that I had no idea of the plot. The movie is in the buzz now and I guess that's why the book is in the buzz or I don't know which is the main reason for it being in the feed but I bumped into this book and I am glad I did. Especially the name is so attractive.

This book romances with words. The book is written so well that it inspires you to immediately go to your blog and write something up. A very few books have inspired this much to write.

No doubt it is a gay romance but the romance felt more universal. The feelings portrayed by Elio towards Oliver is so universal in nature that it transcends Gender. Each feeling so well depicted. It is 100 times better than Hollywood romance where 'I love you' becomes so meaningless and repetitive that you almost feels like puking. Okay there is a scene in this book which almost made me puke - 'peach fruit romance' and scene thereafter but it was hilarious. I wonder would any girl do that for a guy to express how much she loves him. I guess not. Anyways, the romance was raw and there are so many instances here which make you realize how true love can be. To what extent one becomes transparent to other. Call me by your name .. It was definitely a beautiful gesture / way of expressing your love for another. Somehting I have never thought or came across even in movies.

I am a fan of Andre Aciman writing style now and I should read more works by him because this book was good not just because of its story or romance but also because how beautifully it is written.

It is definitely a good read.

I’m not crying your crying. But seriously though so beautifully written, I loved the tone of the book, great story, great imagery.

O amor e a vida numa harmonia perfeita, real, humana. Poético, belo e inesquecível.
