rating: very good ⭐⭐⭐⭐
personal enjoyment rating: exceptional ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

the plot twist was a bit obvious, but I still appreciated this story so much.
it was structured a bit differently than other shadowhunters novels which was a nice refreshing touch: it's a queer traveling adventure about trying to solve a mystery that also ties in the stuff already known about the universe and sets up its own story arc focused around Magnus' legacy

I enjoyed this book a lot :)

I may be biased in rating this so high, but I do not take the matter of my comfort characters lightly, so sue me I guess.

To be honest, I’m a bit insecure about how I wish to rate this book. Did I like it? Yeah, it’s an easy book to read. Is it worth five stars? Nope.

Although I did enjoy the journey, all the characters felt a bit boring. I understand that this is partially because the only Shadowhunters content I’ve received comes from the movie and the Netflix series (which is disappointing as hell, I know), but I must point out that the lack of character depth is -for a good part- the book’s fault.

NEVERTHELESS this book inspired me to read the other books in the Shadowhunter Universe which I think is great.

Pardon this half-assed review, I’m sleepy.
