I loved this book! It made me laugh, and cry, and gave me ALL THE FEELS!
Sarah Keating has her life so together. She runs a residence program for adults with Down Syndrome, which was her lifelong dream. She is financially stable, she owns her own home, and she has great friends. She basically has it all, but she has no partner to share it with. While tipsy on her 30th birthday, she remembers the pact she made with her college best friend, who she hasn't seen in 10 years. They said if they were both unmarried at 30, they'd marry each other. So, she messages him. What's the harm in asking, right?
Ian Nolan is vying for his dream career in Portland with an aviation company, after living in New York for the last 10 years. When Sarah messages him, he's thrilled to hear from her, and since he's in town, he decides to surprise her by stopping by at her place. Best decision ever. But Ian has issues he hasn't dealt with, and he prefers to live his life numb to deeper emotions, after losing his younger brother a decade ago. When he proposes a marriage of convenience, more like a business merger than a romantic prospect, he throws Sarah for a loop. But he's sure this is the best way to approach a marriage. Can he convince Sarah to take the leap with him?
Sarah and Ian have chemistry like whoa, and their connection is off the charts hot. Considering they were only ever friends before, their sexual compatibility is like a revelation for both of them. But, they are both convinced they can keep feelings totally out of it. Just friendship, companionship, sex, and a shared life, but not love. Famous last words. Though this story went down exactly as it seemed it would, it still kept me on edge, waiting for the bottom to drop out. I was at times tearful, laughing, smiling, and swooning. What a delight.
I loved the peeks we got of the characters from the first two books here. Getting to see Cassie and Simon (from book one) get married was awesome, and Simon's sister Junie made quite the full appearance as well. These people have really become a family to each other (though some were sisters already), and it was lovely to see how their lives have come along. There was a lot of closure in this book for the entire series, and I loved it.
Sarah was honest throughout about how she was feeling, and I loved that about her. Ian really had to work hard to get over his stunted emotional issues, and decide if losing love was worth staying numb and emotionally closed off. Ian and Sarah really knew each other, even though it had been many years since they were truly in each other's lives, and they were really good for each other, and cared about each other. They were the true definition of friends first, and their adventure together falling into true love was a very memorable one. I adored this story, and this entire series. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

This story features Ian and Sarah. Ten years ago they were best friends and vowed that by the time they were 30, if they weren’t married, they’d marry each other. Now, 10 years later, he’s so jaded against love and wants to marry her for companionship only. This story is about Ian’s struggle against falling in love and Sarah falling in love with someone who doesn’t believe in love.
The story has sad and tragic moments but it’s also about second chances and happiness.

A very entertaining read! When Sarah celebrates her 30th birthday she can't help but reminisce about her college-friend Ian Nolan. They once made a pact to marry each other should they reach the age of 30 single. And behold: Ian is in town, remembers the pact and knocks on her door! Because of things in Ian's past, he wants to marry Sarah and look at it as a marriage of convenience. But Sarah doesn't want to give up on the possibility of love.
Tawna always writes good stories. There is also a lot of humor in this one and I liked the story about Ian's brother with Down's Syndrome and how this connected to Sarah's current job.
