This book reminded me that reading is empathy, to know and listen to someone else's story.

A must-read for anyone who loves Memphis. I fell totally in love with the women in this book and I wept several times throughout.

3.5/4 stars! The women in this story are STRONG. At times it is hard to read, but The story came accords as very real making it better. What Joan and the other ladies overcame is amazing

Memphis, by Tara string fellow, follows several women throughout a family line that lives in Memphis, Tennessee. You follow the grandmother, daughters, and granddaughters.
You watch them deal with tons of family related issues as well as racism in the south.

It is hard to read a book that is as triumphant as it is devastating. The women in this book are amazing. They are strong and resilient while also being delicate and fragile. I definitely felt the humanity part of this book when I was reading, and I was emotionally connected to all of the characters.

I laughed, and I cried tears of joy and sorrow before the end of this book. I highly recommend for a quick, yet poignant read.
