mf - contemporary romance - rivals to lovers - fake honeymoon - audiobook - 4 stars. MMC is a wedding planner who’s been fired, and the FMC is his replacement. The bride and groom were the kind that makes you wonder why the hell the MCs are friends with them, and I felt that at the end the MMC got way too much blame for the brides actions. This is low steam, multiple sex scenes but not graphic.

I was so excited to start this book that I got scared I had build up to it too much and I’d end up disappointed. I am very happy to inform you that not only that didn’t happen, but this is now one of my favorite contemporary romance books.

Daphne Cardenas is the the most recognized wedding planner around, and she has to take over as an emergency for another planner as a favor to her friend that happens to be the groom. The tricky part is, she has to work together with the former planner, Aaron Trinidad, – who has no idea why he was fired in the first place – to catch up on everything that has already been done and still has to be done, with the wedding only a month away.

Daphne is an incredible protagonist, I absolutely loved her. One thing that struck me and made me respect her, and her mother, even more is how they view life. My mother is like Daphne’s, when she was in her thirties she decided she wanted to have kids, so she came up to her boyfriend at the time – my dad – and said she wanted a child but he didn’t need to take any responsibility and could be as present as he liked, and hey here I am. So when Daphne explained her view of marriage and that it doesn’t matter if society pressures you, you should to do whatever you’re comfortable with and not put yourself into bad situations for not having the same ideals.

Aaron is such a sweetheart, he’s an amazing hero; so charming and endearing. I loved the fact that he was the one who still had a lot to learn about the industry, while Daphne already has a name for herself, and that doesn’t bother him in the least. This is so important, because guys are so easily threaten by powerful women, and he’s so great about it all, he admires Daphne so much and it’s inspiring to see it.

I loved their relationship and how everything progressed, it might’ve been fast, but it didn’t feel rushed, it felt right. And there was absolutely no unnecessary drama, I was so relieved by that. When they were in their honeymoon vacation together and she flirted with that other guy, I was so scared that would become a unnecessary plot device of secrecy and deception. But Daphne was so open with Aaron about it and I was so relieved. It’s rare that unnecessary drama is avoided in romance books, I was actually impressed.

I’m new to romanceclass books, I’m making my way through them slowly but surely, and so far, this has been my favorite one. It was entertaining and light to read. The writing was amazing, the characters banter and interactions were super fun to read, I never wanted it to end.

I was trying to figure out why this premise bothered me so much, and I finally got it - wedding planner Daphne is called in to plan a wedding last minute because the bride fell in love with their first wedding planner (Hot Dude Planner), okay cool cool. But Daphne was hired by the groom (Corporate Bro), who she says is her "friend" but absolutely nothing about their interactions indicates real friendship. In fact, Daphne and Corporate Bro seem to have nothing but disdain for each other. She and Hot Dude Planner have good chemistry, but it's totally not clear why they fall into bed with each other, other than #romance and also Corporate Bro sneered at Daphne that of course they would end up hooking up with each other ('cause that's profesh *eyeroll*). I don't like Corporate Bro, and I don't want him to get married, and I don't want two wedding planners to have to spend another second in his presence. So I'm cutting my losses and going back to Murderbot.

YES I KNOW THEY'RE FICTIONAL SHUT UP.

This book is so good! A light romcom with a independent successful female character and a sweet gentle (and really trouxa) male character, adults acting as adults, no drama.
I loved how they interacted with each other, they had chemistry, they respected each other, they were honest, they were mature and i loved it.
Actually, I don't even know what to say about this book, because it's so much fun and SO sweet. I already knew a lot about this story cause my friends talk about it nonstop and it was EXACTLY what I expected! Daphne and Aaron's love was (tranquilo, com sabor de fruta mordida) EASY! Not that it didn't have it's challenges, but for them, it was easy to love each other, and for me, it was easy to love them too.
Also, Julie was amazing! The kind of friend that everyone loves <3

Cute.

I'm always wary of books where it seems like a love interest is going to ruin a heroine's career, and while that's not where this book went, I never quite got over that fear. I think in general enemies to lovers isn't my thing. I prefer it when couples like each other from the get-go.
