The way Stephen King writes his characters will be something I'll always enjoy reading. He's able to make them feel so full of life and depth.

I enjoyed and liked it more than other SK books I've read. However, it's becoming clear to me that his books tend to falter a bit toward the end, and he's unable to maintain the tension and interest that the beginning and middle of the books have. For such a fantastic setup, the ending of the book just felt a bit abrupt and unsatisfying.

Another point that I've noticed is just how unbearably slow his books can be. Regardless, I've still enjoyed it.

This could very well be the best standalone book I’ve ever read. As always, King does a fantastic job of writing characters that feel grounded in a world where vampires live amongst us. The backdrop of the Lot is the perfect setting - dark and ominous with the mysteries of the Lot looming above all of the citizens. I foresee myself picking this up again and again in the fall.

he does small town horror so well. I had to skim/skip some of the extra material after the story ended personally; One For the Road was good but it should have ended there.
