I think I would have enjoyed this more with a different narrator. Picked it up because I recently read some articles about how The Little Mermaid has hidden queer themes. Very different from the story we know from Disney which was interesting. Overall, this still was very short and accordingly not really deep.

This is so much darker than the Disney adaptation. While Disney portrays a perfect romance with a happy ending, this original story provides the meaningful lesson to not sacrifice yourself for another.
