First I wouldn’t highly recommend checking the warning for this book before you dive in.
Although I personally felt this book was aiming at inspiration and funny with its dark humour and plot line. I think the execution missed. It is a tense book with a few plot holes and the amount of humour isn’t enough to balance the uncomfortable reflection of reality this book brings.
I thought due to the name of the book there would be more planning before the murder. I’m all for the premise of a book that puts power back in the hands of women. However I feel the graphic description of what happened to the women in this book was not equal to the death they were dealt. Also any power that it felt women may have was completely stripped away at the end with how James treated Kitty when she wasn’t prepared with any of her tools she was still unable to get away. Also ending with the 2 women killed unfortunately left me with the horrible reminder that this is the world we live in and no ones out there to help us.

The story had a lot of potential but it just didn’t quite get there.
How is it possible in this day and age to murder someone and not leave a trace without taking precautions. It just didn’t make sense to me
The mc was also quite annoying at times.

I’m glad it was fast-paced because it wasn’t as good as it could’ve been. Kitty wasn’t a very likeable main character. I am comparing it to Sweetpea, which tbf the author does mention she got inspiration from, but it didn’t quite itch the same scratch

The pacing and short chapters made this a quick read which not all thrillers achieve. I can’t work out if we’re supposed to like Kitty? I couldn’t stand her - she could’ve done meaningful work from the start rather than been the kind of influencer to shill any cr*p despite her not needing the money, and she both hated her friends yet wouldn’t dare be friends with anyone who wasn’t rich or had a high following on social media. She doesn’t see the hypocrisy or how vapid she is ironically.

Although I could see the very obvious points the author was making about monsters with money rarely getting justice, it just seemed unoriginal and a very normal take on the world. Inspired I suspect by the #metoo movement, Dexter and any woman’s experience being scared of men. The only likeable character was Charlie though like all characters in this book, he wasn’t given any depth. I felt this book was just trying too hard to be feminist and empowering yet was stating the obvious. The ending about the stalker fell flat and was a poor twist. Was unfortunately rooting for Kitty to get caught or her own comeuppance from one point onwards
