I do feel as though this was my bad for choosing to do audiobook instead of print book because my mind wandered sometimes and I lost the plot. And there's a lot going on! It was a dark but charming adventure and I am happy to say the mongooses were not harmed.

I'll go back and give this book a formal review at some point, but ultimately about 50 pages from the end I decided to DNF the book. It just wasn't doing it for me. I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about the book, however, none of them are particularly positive. The book couldn't keep my interest, didn't make sense to me, and if it weren't for trying to read it for my reading group, I would've honestly stopped at the first 50 pages. It's weird, didn't seem to have a point (and I found many say that anything talked about wasn't even resolved by the end??), and I ultimately didn't like the characters or see where the development was going.

Would not recommend.

One of the most baffling and compelling books I’ve had the pleasure of reading. Don’t think too much about the destination and enjoy the thrill of the ride.
