What a fun ride, I am not as well versed in Norse Mythology so this was educational, I certainly have a lot more to research now. Magnus is an amazing protagonist and the supporting cast are just as interesting. Can’t wait to see where this goes.

It took me a while to finish, but I absolutely LOVE this book. It was recommended to me by a friend and I am so glad they recommended it. I was honestly very surprised by
Magnus dying only a few chapters in
in the best way possible, it was not the story I was expecting. I never got into Percy Jackson, but I’ve fallen in love with these characters and this story. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.  I do wish wolves weren’t portrayed as so evil though, as they really aren’t monsters in real life.

If you're a fan of Rick Riordan in general, you'll probably be a fan of this! Magnus is such a fun narrator, with sass almost equal to Percy's sass. Fans of the Percy Jackson series will definitely love the connections made between the two series, and some of th elittle digs towards Percy Jackson himself (the pen as a sword comment was gold).

Honestly, pretty much everything I know about Norse mythology comes from Marvel (I know, I know). So getting to see more of Norse mythology in this book was fun, especially in the ways that Riordan does it. Do his books start to read similarly after a time? Yes, but I think that's what keeps bringing kids back to his writng. They know what to expect, and usually that expectation is a good time.

If you like these mythology themed middle grade fantasy books, then you'll definitely want to keep this one on your radar!

This was a fun book that teaches you a lot about Norse mythology! I think Sam’s double life and the sword talking were a little much, but overall a great quest and voyage story. I’m excited to see where this story is headed, but I wish it was its own world and not connected to Percy Jackson via Annabeth (and a random Jason Grace reference). It also was low key (or Loki haha) was giving Wizards of Oz vibes at the end with Odin. I think I would almost give this book 4.5 stars.

This book was alright. There were some parts I liked, but I didn't really connect with any of the characters and I didn't really care what they were going through.
