This is a book where you go in expecting fairly little, but get a whole host of feels and a decent story around and amongst the OnlyFans content. There is actually a cohesive narrative throughout, proper character development and genuine exploration of trauma, mental health issues, sexuality and self-acceptance. The building of the relationship between the two lead characters outside of the bedroom is beautifully done; their separate growth feeds into their their connection and is really heartwarming.
Writing wise, the first few chapters are a little clunky, trying to introduce the characters and get them to the 'right place, right time', but the writing starts to hit its stride when the boys are settled in at college and the real story can begin. From then on, it's an easy read, with the shifts in perspective between Avi and Kyren flowing seamlessly. It is a bit formulaic and predictable, it's certainly readable and it helps with the engagement; you definitely become one of 'the fans' as you read! Equally however, there are some moments which aren't written particularly well; the character of Ash, for example. Introduced from nowhere, acts as obstacle to HEA, disappears without trace.
OK, the elephant in the room. The smut. It's two guys, so if that's not for you, I really wouldn't pick this up. I'd say this is probably quantity over quality - it's not badly written, but given the writer is female I'd say the style reflects the obvious lack of first-hand experience! It's hot but not spicy, detailed but fairly generic (except for the video camera, of course!), but that works for the plot - it feels reflective of two inexperienced guys finding their way into their sexuality. And the fact that these scenes do play a role in the wider plot, not just in terms of their money-making potential for the characters but also in allowing and documenting their emotional relationship to evolve, means that you can't help but be drawn in.
Another big element to the book is college football. Not a sport I even remotely understand, but those scenes I treated the same way as I do the football talk in 'The Blind Side' - nod, smile, and don't let it get in the way of the story. As long as I know who wins the game, we're good.
I was surprised at how much I liked this one! And apparently there will be more...

Nyla really poured herself into this book and it shows. Everything is so passionate and so real.
Avi and Ky's love is that kind of love we all search for. The kind that is supporting, real, passionate, and unconditional.
This book really was incredible to me!

Spice: ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ - undergarments meltedโฆ๐ณ
Itโs been like 4 or 5 days and I still canโt get my words right for this review. So if this turns into rambling just know itโs for a good reason.
First things first - Iโll admit I havenโt found a book by Nyla that I donโt love. Thatโs because each one is so different from the rest of her work yet you still get the same level of experience from them all. Nyla lets these characters run wild in her head and then hands her readers their story in its most authentic form. You never have to worry about one of her books being watered down so itโs easier to consume. And thank god for that because this story here wouldnโt have been the same if it was.
She gave us two guys who are complete opposites in every possible way yet fit together so perfectly and no other person on the planet could complete them. The farther you get into the book the more youโll see why. They are the poster boys for that fine line between love and hate.
And. It. Is. Delicious.
The way they interact with each other, even later on in the story, is always charged with sexual tension. So between the constant picking on each other and the intense attraction, they are feeling you get this interesting mix of slow and fast burn that is overflowing with some of the best banter Iโve ever read. Take the whole damn plot and throw it away and I could literally just sit and read a book of nothing but them bickering back and forth and be happy. ๐คฃ
Thankfully we donโt have to throw the whole plot out though because itโs a really good plot. OnlyFans is still constantly growing in popularity and this was one of the first books that I personally saw centering the plot around it. But itโs not just a book about two guys doing OF to make money. Itโs about so much more than that. Itโs about two people finding themselves because of choices they made due to the circumstances they were put in. And then in finding themselvesโฆ they found each other. ๐ฅฐ
They were exactly what the other needed at a time when they didnโt even know they needed it. A push to accept and love yourself for who you are and to stop feeling unworthy. The strength to face your demons and finally heal a piece of your soul thatโs been slowly eating away at you for so long. Whether itโs being there to open the door and let the other in or trusting the other enough to let go of control and allow the walls to come down these boys have found a safe space within their love. It is so touching and full of emotions that I was legit sobbing (both sad and happy tears for the record) the entire last 20-30% of the book. Sometimes that meant switching from sad to laughing in less than a paragraph lol. But would it really be a Nyla K book if that wasnโt the case?
Speaking of things youโd expect from a Nyla book - you already know she is not going to let you down when it comes to the spice! WHEW! I donโt know what she puts in her cup each day while writing but it has to be infused with something hotter than lava because thatโs the only kind of spicy scene in this book! Doesnโt matter where they are or whoโs around none of it is off-limits. Showers, cars, locker rooms, MF FaceTimeโฆ these guys take full advantage!! I can without a doubt give three at minimum that will forever live rent-free in my head from this day forward. She said it was hotter than Push - I didnโt believe her - I was wrong. ๐ณ
Sorry, Ben & Ryan. ๐ฌ (Donโt worry they still hold the crown for the top โsceneโ ever overall! ๐)
Well okโฆ that all came out better than I expected it to I think. So, Iโm going to leave you with this, read the TWs if youโre someone who generally needs them but if not then skip it and dive right in. While there is sensitive content within the story the worst of it ๐๐ฃ ๐๐ฎ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฃ๐๐ค๐ฃ is not described in detail/happens off-page. But it absolutely is a must-read. Avi and Kyran will own a piece of your heart after you finish it and itโs so worth it!
