I found this translation to be outdated and confusing. If you like magic of fairy tales, this is NOT the edition to read.

After reading and enjoying The Little Mermaid, I wanted to check out a few of Andersen's other fairy tales to see if it'd be worth buying a collection. I didn't enjoy listening to these tales and can only assume that The Little Mermaid is one of Andersen's darker and more gruesome works. The majority of these tales were very simplistic, lighthearted works. Possibly enjoyable for a very young child, but I didn't enjoy them as an adult.

These were fine. Most were poop. Three stars because the afterword mentioned that most of these tales had some sort of metaphor in them which is something that'd fly right over my head.

The Nightingale, though. And The Snow Queen. And maybe some other one. And The Gate Key. And the amount of times my heart's strings were being plucked. These poor characters.

This is a collection of a few fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen. There are a few well known stories. I enjoyed reading them.
