"...every falling leaf comes to rest where it was always meant to."

"In the absence of wind, the grass still trembles."

--I've really enjoyed this mystery series! Very different setting. Excellent writing. Local author!

Glad not to have another cliff hanger. Crime was pretty heinous.

Krueger always writes in a smooth, almost lyrical way. His characters are interesting while the action and tension builds. Another more than solid book in the series but not as good as a few earlier entries.

I missed Minnesota and the anishinaabe a little in this one. Quite a suspenseful literary ride throughout. This book is another in the Cork O'Connor series. It continues a bit after where Mercy Falls (Cork O'Connor) left off.

Cork O'Connor is not known for giving up without a fight that is unless fighting means losing what he loves most. In Copper River, we discover that Cork is temporarily holed up with relatives. In the end this turns out to be beneficial for all concerned.

This book is a slightly different take on our hero. He is not at his absolute best. In my opinion, Cork's vulnerability makes him all the more human and relatable. I can understand when a person is overwhelmed with issues both physical and mental. My heart went out to him and all the new characters in this book.

An author that can make a reader feel these things deserves to be followed. I look forward to reading more of the Cork O'Connor books.

I love all of the books I've read in this series. I think this might be my favorite, mostly because it's set in the U.P. I appreciated learning about cougar behavior as there are cougars where I live. A friend has encountered one, I hope I don't.

Cork O’Connor has sought refuge with his estranged cousin and her son while still on the run from the bounty Lou Jacoby has put out on him. While there, he becomes involved in the disappearance of one teenager and the murder of another, linked by their common past of abusive and neglectful families. This book is a great commentary on how we as a society often fail these kids, or don’t even notice them in the first place. Another great installment of this series!
