As someone who's not a fan of The Hulk series, in general, I was pleased that the first volume of this series seemed more horror inspired, and less superhero punching matches. Unfortunately, for me, this book returned to typical Hulk book form. Misunderstood monster feels threatened and must overcome the government, and its military, as well as have a physical battle with The Avengers who are, as usual, torn about how to fight him.
It's not a bad book. If you love The Hulk, this might be a five star book for you. For me, it lost the appeal of volume one, and I won't be checking out volume three.
I recommend it for Marvel Zombies, greeniacs, people who enjoy comics that they feel like they've already read dozens of times before.

I have started to get more into the storyline as I read more issues. Additionally, the characters that begin to show up have helped me do some reading and researching to find connections which strengthen events even more.
I am newbie at comics so this is the first storyline I chose to follow and really started to get into the series here.
While I still don't feel like I am reading a superhero comic nor do I think that is the intent of this series.
And I am still not a fan Hulk, but am a fan of the story.
Finally, there is one cell about privileged white males and really captures the events of so many things happening our world today that this comic has some real world connections.
I will continue to read.

Immortal Hulk: The Green Door is a wild book. It feels more like a horror comic than a superhero story. The body morphing and the way the art shows the gamma radiation looks like something out of a John Carpenter or David Cronenberg film. I don't know why but writing the hulk, like its a straight up horror story works. I can't wait to read the next trade.
