This book was hard for me to rate. It is a good book about amazing courageous woman during a part of history that we all need to remember.
The author did a lot of research. There is a lot of information that seems to make the story a little heavy on the informational facts, losing the story of the woman. It jumped between protagonists stories and was hard to follow.

I'm glad I listened to this book. I learned a lot and, listening in the short bursts that I have available, I didn't get overwhelmed. I learned so much about the resistance, and I'm so glad women's essential work is being recognized.

Amazingly touching collection of stories, emotions and personalities. My only "problem" with the book is something the author touches on in the end notes: In order to paint a picture, the author had to source from various different places, sometimes with conflicting tales, as well as perhaps occuring translation mistakes or an omitting/changing of certain details to push a narrative. I believe the book tells the stories as well as it can be done, but I did prefer the storytelling of Edith Bruck for that reason.
Moderate: Rape
