I love crocheting, so this start of the series intrigued me and i really liked the characters and references to crocheting.
The murder-mystery was nicely done and didn't expect the murderer in the end.
Looking forward to continue this cozy-series.

Quick reading, easy to follow, likeable characters. I'll need to read more to decide where it ranks in the tower of cozies that I read all the time, but it was good.

this was such a cozy little mystery that was a great background listen while i did my knitting/crocheting. there were some extra scenes in the book that were really slow and unnecessary that i felt took away from solving the actually mystery. but i enjoyed having something lighthearted to listen to :)

Bonus stars for crochet content…. To the other reviewers, come on, no one seriously thought this would be earth shattering literature did they?? It was a nice little pool read when I couldn’t be inside crocheting.

It's a good read. I'm not overly emotional about the ending, but that doesn't mean this book wasn't a joy to read. I have had this book in my sights for a bit, and it didn't disappoint. There's plenty of character development, mystery, and murder. I appreciate the attention to detail in the crime scenes and how the killer was not the one I was suspicious of. "Hooked on Murder" is the perfect title for the first book. It's so on the nose it's funny. My favorite bit was when Molly and Dinah were recapping past author events. I laughed reading about the steamy erotica. I would have been a bright shade of red. I will take my time to read the second book, but if I come across it at my local second-hand shop or on sale, I'll put it in my basket. I appreciated how the main character was new to crocheting, and the author needed to take a more expert level for the hobby. I would have required clarification to continue the book if everything was technical and perfect. People make mistakes, especially when doing a new craft, and Molly made plenty. The eventual love triangle is one I'm rooting to see more of in the second book. I love the lawyer much more than the cop simply because of his actions. A lot of things that bothered her bothered me even more. I love that Molly never gave in to his wishes and put her foot down. Realistically, you'll always agree with only some choices your partner makes, especially when it involves completely changing things without your knowledge or consent first.

So I didn't even get very far in this book. Maybe it's because it's not a genre I typically read, but it felt very unfocused. And the main character just seemed...too self-centered. Awfully superior to everyone around her while griping about her tight waist band. No thanks, don't want to spend my time on that.

A cute book about a murder mystery with a free granny square pattern and buttercream icing recipe in the back! It was a quick read. The only thing I didn't like was the rampant knit vs. crochet debate--c'mon, guys, let's all get along.

This book was pretty boring and not very well written. There were a lot of parts that just seemed pointless and slowed down the mystery part of the story. I was not invested in the characters and actually forgot what the main character's name was a few times. As a knitter and crocheter, I was pretty annoyed at the knitter bashing. Overall, pretty terrible. I'm glad I got it from the library and didn't purchase it.
