The Last Farewell
neilrcoulter's review against another edition

Naoshi Arakawa achieves a dizzying, hypnotic swirl of word and image fragments throughout this volume that I really enjoyed. In the most intense moments, these fragments move from internal dialogue to external speech to past memories to hopes and fears, around and around. This technique has been present in other volumes, but its use during Kosei's "accompanist solo" at the gala is fantastic.
I'm happy to see some resolution to Kosei's internal conflicts and relationship with his mother. Hiroko remains a bit of a mystery. Kaori . . . just more and more sadness.

This series is literally one of the cutest things I've every read! I've said it before and I'll say it again that this series just blows me away with its simplistic beauty. Kaori and Kosei are everything!
