It insists upon itself

A lot of pretension but no real substance to the point the use of mental illness and violence especially against women and sexual violence involving children felt gimmicky unfortunately.

I loved this short story book. Adiobooking this type of book can be hard because everything is just so fast paced but I really liked it. Most of the stories were deeply dark, mysterious, grotesque, obscure, and horror based. Really good for those who are into those types of stories.

This was a letdown after how much I loved Tender is the Flesh. The writing isn't bad, exactly, but it feels very detached and clinical. A lot of these stories are only a handful of pages long and barely have a plot, so there's not much to grab onto. Maybe 3 of the stories are ones I would say I enjoyed, the rest just kind of...existed. Meh.
