The racism in this book was way more explicit than I remembered when I read this as a child. Least favorite of the series so far. Looking forward to the next one, have good memories of Plum Creek.

Ugh. The writing is still similar quality to the rest of the series, but the theme is just FEAR!! Danger all around and it seems so lonely and fruitless traveling by wagon and building a house on the prairie.
