Hayley is such a beautiful person inside, and it comes across in the pages of her memoir: her courage as she faced childhood cancer, her desire to give back to people with St. Jude, and her joy and awe as she went to space. Her writing is down to earth (pun intended) and relatable. Her zest for life is infectious and inspiring. What a beautiful, triumphant life she's having after defeating cancer.

Can't wait to watch the Netflix documentary Countdown Inspiration4 about her journey now. Thanks Casey for this gift!!

Arceneaux has had such a full, trying, and wonderful life. As a massive space fan who followed the Inspiration4 journey very closely (and entered more than once into the lottery for a seat), I especially enjoyed Part 2 of this book that described her mission and travel to space. Part 1 was heartbreaking, describing Hayley’s cancer diagnosis, treatment, and aftermath. However, despite the strength of the story being told, the writing itself was lacking in the first part. It felt a bit juvenile, but that may have fit in with Hayley’s diagnosis at such a young age. Overall, this was a quick and touching read. It was inspiring and stressed the dichotomy between Hayley’s younger years and her chance to fly in space. She doesn’t shy away from the hard parts of her journey, specifically in losing her father, the fear of being diagnosed with cancer as a child, needing her internal prosthesis replaced multiple times, and being rejected from her dream job. That made her journey relatable to anyone who has experienced loss or failure. Highly recommend!

TW: cancer, medical treatment, loss of a parent, loss of a parent to cancer, childhood cancer, vomiting, grief

Enjoyed this one! It was fun to hear about her experience through SpaceX. She may be extremely lucky but also humble and acknowledges her opportunities given to her. Makes me want to become a space nerd!

This book is incredibly inspirational and motivating. It’s an extremely up close and personal look into the preparation for a civilian trip to space and the details behind that mission. A brief read as well (less than two hundred pages). I just learned there’s a Netflix docu series as well too!!

While the writing style was a bit more simple than I had expected and like, this still was such an interesting book to read. And the simple style also makes it easy to recommend to younger readers that want to learn more about inspiring figures.

As with any medical memoir, I of course hate that this happened to her but I’m glad I was able to read this and learn about her story. There were so many cool and interesting anecdotes in this book, and I immediately watched her show with my husband after I finished the book. They were really cool to experience so closely together.

Beautifully inspirational story! I was honored to receive a copy from Hayley herself and I finished it in 2 sittings (would’ve been 1 had I started it earlier than 10pm on a work night lol). Her story is incredible. I laughed, cried, smiled, and everything in between. Despite some of the other reviews saying the story is too simply written, the simplicity is refreshing, accessible, and perfect as to not take away from the inherent beauty of the story itself.
