I received a copy from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you India R. Adams for the opportunity to read your book. This was a great read. The first novella was told in Whit's POV. In this novella, the story was told in Link's POV. I found the mind of Link more interesting and thought-provoking as Whit's. In my opinion, this novella was better than the first one. Link seemed more complexed. He has been in love with his best friend, Whit for a long time. Learning about his family was an interesting thing as well. The plot twists in the story was great. I really liked all the characters. The ending was a bit bittersweet. I can't wait to see what happens in Red Waters. Overall, an enjoyable and interesting read.

It was very cool to see the first story from Link's perspective. It actually made the first story make sense and answered a lot of questions that I had. This author is beyond talented. Her words are aesthetically beautiful. They lure me in and leave me mesmerized.

I still need to know more about Whit and what she discovered on her journey. I'm hoping book three gives me those answers and is a complete novel. There is so much material here. This is a YA book so far but the content deals with some painful parts of society that definitely needs to be talked about.

I love reading a story from another character's POV - most of the time - and this was better writing and editing than the first title in this series. Looking forward to the next one now - I really like Link, he's a good guy, and honestly, I like him better than Whitney (nothing against Whit, but . . . ).

Once more blown away.

Wow! This is a story with everything. Love, laughs, lies ,heartbreak, sacrifice, scenes that leave you blown away. Scenes that leave you heartbroken and crying. This was an amazing story or two men in love with the same girl. Link and Whitney are the best of friends. Whitney is sassy, silly, and despises Link's girlfriend Connie. Connie isn't a fan of Whit's either. While at the movies Whit meets Crash. A man who will not only change her life but the life of everyone she and Link knows. The world as they know it will be ripped apart and turned upside down.

Once again, I am in love with the characters.

Was the same story from Link's POV needed...NOPE. This POV just frustrated me even more and I usually enjoy a bunch of twists and turns.

In the sequel to Blue Waters, we view most of the situation that happened in Blue Waters, but from Reether's (aka Link) perspective.

In Blue Waters, we met Whitney, her best friend Link, and Crash, the man whom Whitney gives her heart to. We learned a few unsavory things in Blue Waters but it was nothing compared to what we learn in Black Waters. I've been working on this review for a while now because I want to give the book justice without giving away spoilers, which would be so much easier if I did. There is a lot of information we learn from this new perspective.

As indicative of the title, the waters are Black, darker, and the storyline is a lot darker than the first. While love is still central to the story, it's this deep love that they all have for one another that gets them into a bind. We also watch a really great friendship form between Link and Crash, and I think from Whitney's perspective, if she knew about it that is, she would be pretty happy. Because who wouldn't want their best-friend getting along with their boyfriend?

I never expected the story to unfold the way it did. I felt that because of her brother and Link, and then later Crash, Whitney lived in a really protective bubble. So many people have worked hard to give Whit a good life, a happy life, because we know she doesn't have it at home. I think giving us Link's perspective was crucial to the story, and it was really well done. I feel vested in these characters and cannot wait to see what Ms. Adams has in store for them.

I received an eCopy of this book courtesy of the lovely author herself in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, I did not know that it was possible to rewrite a book from another person’s perspective and still make me feel approximately everything.

All of the things were felt whilst reading this novel, from sadness to anticipation, to fear, to outright happiness when the ending rolled around (and not because the book was awful and I was relieved, but because it was a heartwarming ending which I will forever be thankful for because it was honestly such a good conclusion to the novella).

I have to say that I probably should have re-read Blue Waters before starting Black Waters, but it did trigger enough memories of the prequel-ish-not-really for me to be able to fully enjoy it. And enjoy it I did.

This book was so damn detailed I honestly wish all authors cared enough to pad out secondary characters enough to be able to accomplish what India did within the limited page count. Characters I had not cared for or understood before suddenly became incredibly important? I actually understood the actions of Link’s father much more than I had during Blue Waters.

For some reason, though, I could not connect with Link as much as I had with Whitney, at least during the first half of the book, before major events and reveals happened which put his character in a much different, and a slightly more favourable light.

As you may already be able to tell, this book truly was the perfect companion of its predecessor, all the gaps and questions were filled in perfectly and India didn’t stop there.

We were also introduced to completely new ideas, courtesy of Whit’s oblivious state in Blue Waters. Link’s narrative presents us with what seemed like concrete information which seemed like things that really shouldn’t have been able to go unnoticed during the previous novella. So many twists in such a short space of time, my mind was reeling – it was WONDERFUL.

I cannot criticise this book, much alike I was not able to find anything wrong with Blue Waters; the writing style, the characters, the pace amalgamated into another amazing novella; so huge kudos to India R. Adams for writing this series.

My Rating: 4.75 Stars
