An amusing book about a boy who wishes to have all sorts of unique parts like duck feet, a long, long tail, and others. He imagines how people would respond and how it would effect his ability to go to school among other activities, and concludes that he just wishes to be himself.

Age appropriate for 4-9 year olds.
The text rhymes throughout the book, making it a fun read-aloud and an opportune book for students to identify rhyming words in.

I was just thinking the other day that I wouldn't want to be anyone but me because I wouldn't know how to be anyone but me. :) This book tackles the same theme through a boy trying on different animals' attributes and finding them all fun for a bit but lacking somewhat too; he concludes it's better to just be you.

It's a great book about embracing who you are but also kinda a terrible book about embracing how boring and banal you are and that there is nothing special about you. =/

Well written though.

Until this book, I had no idea that Seuss wrote other early readers under a different name Tho. LeStieg. LeSieg is Geisel backwards. He did this for books that he wrote, but did not illustrate. It’s a shame he didn’t illustrate this book. The illustrations are great, but I would love to see what Seuss would do. The story is fun, rhymes and BTobey did great illustrations. Just what a reader expects from Seuss.

Is this a precursor to [b:Imogene's Antlers|1113923|Imogene's Antlers (Reading Rainbow Books)|David Small|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1181106645s/1113923.jpg|2694257]? It also reminded me of some of the [a:Bill Peet|18821|Bill Peet|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1309163952p2/18821.jpg] books - although this came before many of those as well. A boy imagines what it would be like to have duck feet, then two horns, a whale spout, a long tail, an elephant nose, and then all five at once. This would work great for a reader's theater. I particularly loved the ending!
