One thing I love about Alison’s books is that they are easy to read. They always just flow, you know? So this is book three in the series and about Gavin and Odette. It’s a second chance romance that’s just heartbreaking at times. It’s a perfect, right person, wrong time scenario. They met as kids, had a brief fling at 18 before college, and then he ghosts her and breaks her heart. But there is a huge reason. They don’t see each other until 20 years later, when he is a divorced dad. Odette is kind of like a black cat, and Gavin is definitely a golden retriever. She’s a celebrity stylist who remained single ever since and just lived her high life. I felt the chemistry between them. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I couldn’t get over her reasoning about the men she chose to sleep with and just didn’t vibe with her character. But, it was well written and I loved the happy ending they so deserved.

This was a trip and a half. I enjoyed it very much but I will warn you that there is some miscommunication that happens. But without that miscommunication we wouldn't have this story and this story was so worth it.
This was my first book by this author and most definitely will not be my last!

While not my usual go to, I do love me a good second chance romance, especially in the Seattle Blades series. I’ve been LIVING for these guys and the people they love!

Gavin and Odette had their moment one summer long ago. Since, Gavin got married (to someone else.. ouch.), had a child and a divorce. Odette built her business, her name and notoriety. And now, 20 years later, their worlds collide when Odette becomes a mentor to Gavin’s daughter.

Odette has decided to guard her heart the last 20 years and is in no rush to change anything. Gavin still manages to pull out all the stops and slowly, but surely wins her heart. There’s definitely heartache, angst and lots of swoon worthy confessions to be found amongst the spice Alison has gifted us lucky readers with.

I am just really loving the way that Alison writes. It pulls you in & you can’t help but fall in love with her characters.

This one follows Gavin, a single dad hockey star & Odette, a fashion designer turned student mentor. These two meet when they’re freshly graduated high school students & have a summer fling. When some *circumstances* happen, their fling ends & we get a time jump 20 years later where these two get their second chance together.

Now, this one might ruffle some feathers ppl. While it has all of the workings to be amazing, the characters might make you kind of mad. Gavin ghosts Odette without explanation, married someone else, had a child then divorces & this is where the story picks up. In the last 20 years both characters have been with other people, made names for themselves, AND also secretly harbored these feelings & never let them go. PLUS, Odette is still sleeping with other people after the 2 become reacquainted. But honestly I loved it all 🤷🏼‍♀️ it worked for the story when in other instances it wouldn’t have.

I personally wanted a bit more angst with this book, I don’t know that anything will beat Rainfall for me. But I did love that we got cameos from both Rainfall & Flurry. Those were so fun, as well as the bonus Rainfall chapter!!!!

I loved that the characters were older & more established. It added an element to the story I don’t always get to enjoy. The hockey was so fun & I loved the moments the team was giving him advice on his relationship. I loved the single dad moments & how Tori and Odette got to form a relationship beyond what you’d normally see in a single parent romance. GIVE ME A TORI & ANOTHER SEATTLE BLADE PLAYER ROMANCE—plz Alison. I’m begging you 🤣

🎧 the audiobook was fantastic! Narrated in duel narration by Maxine Mitchell & Teddy Hamilton you can’t really go wrong. These two together are straight magic. 👏🏼👏🏼 5/5🎙️ no notes.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½
Couple: Gavin & Odette

❛Youth makes us all a little stupid in love, I suppose. Maybe no eighteen-year-old should count on love to last and all I’ve done is set myself up for disaster and heartbreak. But age doesn’t make my feelings less valid.❜

This is so not your cookie cutter romance book, and I absolutely ate it up. There are not enough good things I can say about this story. Alison's writing was everything, even when she was wrecking me with her words she wrote them beautifully. Maybe it's age or lived experiences, but I felt everything all involved went through in this book. Young love no matter the time leaves its mark, some things you carry, and it shaped how Odette lived her life. My heart was so heavy for her, going through the highs, the lows, the heartbreak, and acceptance of herself. Watching Gavin and Odette reconnect had me all in my feelings, mostly mixed feelings. Their connection and chemistry was undeniable, I kept going back and forth on wanting them together or not. Mostly because of Gavin for me, he was great and was dealt a lose lose situation, but I just needed it to be more from him. In the end I was so very happy for them and all the emotions I went through.

Narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Maxine Mitchell

Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

I don’t know what Alison keeps putting into these books, but I swear it’s crack. Never had I been so interested in a series where there is other woman/man drama until this series and I’m eating them up like hotcakes. I need more like this immediately. I loved the connection between these mains. They fell in love quick as kids and reality came crashing down hard on their heads, and now almost 20 years later, when their paths cross again, the fall out of that reality is still very prevalent. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give anything away but if you’re intrigued by pining characters, a unique twist on other woman/cheating trope, super angsty, hockey romance, I implore you to read this one!

Teddy and Maxine are just perfection. They portrayed Gavin and Odette so well. They brought the angst these characters required to life in such a way I don’t think any other narrators would have done them justice. Phenomenal job.

Tempest is the third book in the Seattle Blades series, but it can be read as a standalone. I loved the second-chance rollercoaster romance between Gavin and Odette. Gavin and Odette's story is one of reconnection, facing the past, and daring to hope for a future. Gavin, now a single dad and NHL player, hasn't forgotten Odette, the girl who captured his heart years ago. Odette, now with a successful career in fashion, faces her own struggles but finds herself mentoring Gavin's daughter—fate has a funny way of bringing people together, doesn't it?

Gavin broke Odette's heart when they were teens. He has always regretted how their relationship ended and never stopped loving Odette. Despite their rough past, they were given another chance to earn a happily ever after. Gavin was determined to win Odette back and put in the work to build trust again. The chemistry between them was undeniable, and it was clear the passion was still there. The story pulled me in from the start. I was completely invested in their relationship and couldn't help but root for them.

Narration:
Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton perform this audiobook in dual-style narration. Their performances are simply magical together. Both narrators brilliantly convey the raw emotions and complexities of the characters. Maxine’s portrayal of Odette combines strength and vulnerability, while Teddy expertly conveys Gavin's determination, persistence, charm, and unwavering love for Odette. Their ability to capture the essence of the story and the chemistry between the characters makes this a must-listen. Maxine and Teddy have incredible emotional range and really brought the story and characters to life.
