I thought this book was going to be really great with the rating it was given on the cover. I was disappointed. I found alot of the characters annoying and there was alot of unnecesarry jabber in it. I felt it was drawn out and unemotional.

7/10 Stars. Not as full of surprising twists and turns as some of Dekker's other novels (i.e. Skin), but still a good, solid read.

Now I am the first to admit I generally love the whole sociopath serial killer story. Given the start of this book, I was a looking forward to where it was going. As the book continued, I started getting irritated.

1. I hate being smacked i the head over and over with specific details or information about people.
2. It makes me sad when the premise brings promise and they do not develop it to its fullest.
3. Trying to insert a mini romance story.

Yeah, it made me a little sad.

I picked this book up when I was in the grocery store last week. It looked really good so I started reading it right away even though I'm in the middle of reading another book. Honestly? It's amazing, I couldn't put it down. I think I finished it in about 3 1/2 days. I've never read anything by this author before, but I'd definitely look into some of the other books he's written.

Seriously I had chills from this book! I felt so bad for Nikki, and for Brad at the end! I really loved Paradise's character, she was so brave at the end and she got what she had deserved all along. Quinton is just messed up, seriously. Roudy was my favourite character though, and I wonder how many of those cold cases he'll be able to close! :)

I have read a lot of books by Ted Dekker, but I believe this one is my favorite. The characters in this story were astounding. Different than anything I've ever read. Fleshed out. Tangible. Like I could reach out and touch them through the pages. The story was captivating, the plot exciting yet still rich in detail. The violence and gore was a necessary part of the character's tale, crucial to make the message clear. Which, I loved. The purpose of the story was beautiful and deep. It is something I think a lot of Christian books attempt to do but never hit the point home like this one does. Very interesting, it made me think. The psychology of it all...Riveting.
