Lack of self-love is a mean thing.
This story is a perfect example of how detrimental low self-esteem is to a young girl and a family. Courtland's naïveté frustrated me. However, I understand why and appreciate the way the author wrote the story. Great read for young adults.

I read this book so that I could discuss it with Niajé. It turned out to be a really interesting read.
