At points, I was a little annoyed that Elliot was so obsessive, and I wish it had been more clear about Rachel in general lol. Was a warm and cute little read that had me teary at the end with her dad.

šŸŽ§ Iā€™d heard rave reviews about this book and with the pretty pink cover I was expecting to love it. While it was good for 80% (compelling, cutesy teenage scenes) it also felt silly. There was good suspense building up to find out what the Awful Thing in the past was, but then
orphaned at 18
felt so dramatic. And it was infuriating that it took them 6 months in the present to actually discuss what kept them apart!
And while itā€™s romance book swoonworthy for the MMC to
break up with his gf immediately after reconnecting
, it gave me alarm bells. Iā€™m a bit sick of the ā€˜he falls first and hardā€™.
Pros: the angst & groveling?
Cons:
  • ā€˜Thenā€™ scenes go through in a blur of exposition of ā€œthis happened at school and then we did this over Summerā€. Couldā€™ve been cut down to further develop the ending.
  • The sexual assault of Elliot wasnā€™t really dealt with.

Similar to: People We Meet On Vacation (friends to lovers & switches between past and present).

3.5 stars! I really enjoyed these characters, the overall plot felt clumsy and I found myself ready for it to be over. Didnā€™t love it, but I definitely didnā€™t hate it.

This is one of my favorite books of all times and one that I recommend to anyone that will listen. This is great for people just starting out reading, not all that spicy, but the most incredible love story. I have friends that have gone through some rough breakups and I recommend this book because it will make you fall in love with love again. How can you not love Elliot? Elliot should be the standard for all men, that man loves passionately and so completely. I don't care what type of books you are into, read this book. You will laugh, cry, and then read it again immediately after just so it won't be over.

I adore a second chance romance and this one was just so good. It's told in alternating timelines of past and present of Macy and Elliot's relationship. It was fantastic. The past was so sweet (to a point) and I really loved the favorite words bit.

Super cute, but I wish I learned more about the main characters as kids and adults.

Itā€™s was cute-ish but I had a few problems with it. I could feel the deep, all consuming love however we never got a deep glimpse into why these characters were they way they are and what leads them to have this magnetism to each other. Donā€™t get me wrong I love when the MMC is Obsessed with the FMC but we never got the inter working of his perspective and why itā€™s her and only her.
