Simply hilarious all the way through. The deliberate spelling and grammar mistakes could put some adults over the edge, but kids will love it.

YES. Very slapstick, borderline rude, fast-paced, and virtually content-free. Cartoony? I'll say. In addition, our caveman heroes speak an English called "Cavemonics," full of misspellings, poor verb conjugation, and blatant misuse of pronouns. So, yeah, this is going to irritate a lot of parents. Heck, I know kids who will be irritated by it, by the misspellings anyway.
And I say hokay, don't give caveman book to them peoples.

I needed a nice easy read. My brain has been on overdrive so I picked this off my bookshelf as I continue my quest to read all the hundreds of books I own that I have yet to read. I was not quite sure what to make of the book to start. I knew it was going to be cheesy and appeal to a lower level audience than what I am used to. However, I found myself really liking this book.
The things I enjoyed were the humorous bits, the language used, and the story line. I am beginning to think of of books and how they would be appeal to my six year old son. He is not ready to read these by himself, but it won't be long and this would be a book that he would get a kick out of with the dinosaurs, action, humor, etc.
The funny thing is that when they met with the Kung-Fu master I actually wrote down some good quotes to use. This was the last thing that I thought I would take away from this book, but I was surprised.
The one thing that I did not like was the spelling of words. Several times the words are spelled incorrectly. I think it is to go with the cavemen theme, but being that my son struggles with spelling this would only create more of a headache trying to explain that the book spelled words wrong.
Overall, this is a nice little surprise. I laughed at words like "poo" and this was just the read I needed. I can see why kids love this series and the Captain Underpants.

1. George and Harold as cavemen, what else could you ask for!
2. Great villian and use of time traveling even though it got super convoluted

There was nothing necessarily wrong with this book. It was entertaining and funny to the degree I expected of a George Beard and Harold Hutchins original.
However, I think Dav Pilkey kind of wrote himself into a box with the Captain Underpants/Super Diaper Baby series. The book greatly lacked the gross-out humor of the other books. It was still good, but I missed that raw disgust I felt when Super Diaper Baby literally fought a piece of poo or when Captain Underpants got eaten by a giant toilet. There was a little, tiny glimmer of gross stuff in this book, but it pretty much just stopped at purely-liquid puking (that really just looked like water). This may sound weird, but as a grown-up, I wanted this book to be grosser.
Having said that, I still liked the story. It was still ridiculous like the others with a weird, all over the place plot. But I would say this one relies more of awesome-ness elements (cavemen, dinosaurs, kung-fu, time travel) than gross-out humor.

Ook and Gluk are cavemen in the year 500,001 BC. When an evil corporation from the year 2222 AD shows up and starts pillaging their resources and enslaving the cavepeople, Ook and Gluk head into the future to save the day. It's a madcap action-adventure comic book with tons of potty humor. Written by Dav Pilkey as if it had been written by 2 fourth-grade boys, the comic is rife with misspellings and chock full of fun. I wouldn't be surprised if it inspires young readers to create their own comics.
Okay, I admit that I had the knee-jerk grownup reaction when I first opened this book: "Ugh, all the words are misspelled! When does the REAL book begin?"
Yeah, and then I let go of that and just had a monstrously fun reading experience. It's books like this that turn kids ON to reading. This will be a super choice for fans of Captain Underpants and silly, funny books.

I read this book as a nostalgia kick from when I was 7 years old and sat in the dentist waiting room. This comic was unexpectedly touching. I would absolutely recommend this book to any and all snotty nosed urchins.

Oh, Dav Pilkey. I and countless elementary school kids have missed you.
