All I want is a man with a little imagination. Is that too much to ask?

So Jacqueline got a man with a WIDE imagination and her decision to marry him turned her life in a completely different direction. I liked reading about her very much. I knew almost nothing about her so I learned a lot. I googled often to know more about that times, different personalities, to see her in all those clothes described.

I was astounded by her inner power, by her strong love towards Jack, and by her willingness to make the world a better place. While I was reading the book, I felt all her disappointments, fears, and pain by myself. The author did a really good job delivering Jackie's state of mind and her point of view on different things.

I absolutely loved reading this novel. So I think I'll continue to improve my knowledge of some women in history with Stephanie Thornton.

I honestly don't know much about Jackie Kennedy or the Kennedy family for that matter. This may have been an advantage in my favor. I say this as I saw the mixed reactions from readers with this book. Because I did not have knowledge, I was able to take this book as a bit of a memoir of Jackie but fiction.

Her voice as narrator of this book was clear, strong, warm, and a great narrator. I really embraced her. This was mostly her story. Her side of what transpired when she met Jack. Married him, became the First Lady, had children, etc. Yet, everyone else came alive as well in this book.

Stephanie has a way with embodying the characters, their voices, and the story she is telling to the readers that makes them want to keep reading. This was an enjoyable read.

I'm definitely in the minority on this one. Every now and then I notice when an author overuses a turn of phrase or a vocabulary word and once I notice it, it really colors the rest of the story for me. In this case, I actually went back and checked out the ebook b/c I wanted to search and see how many times we are told about the "glacial blue eyes" (5) and the "sandy" hair (5) and by this point using "chuff of laughter" twice was once too many.

Oh, yeah. Also, I learned some things about Jacqueline Kennedy that I didn't know, but I didn't enjoy the 1st person narration of a fictional story about a real person. It made me question how much I could trust the information.

I’m a sucker for any book about the Kennedy family, especially Jackie, and could not wait to get my hands on it. It’s a look inside Jackie’s life and the men she loved. It’s honest and real and I couldn’t get enough. I want a sequel focusing on Rose or Ethel. I already want to re-read this story.
Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis was known as a beautiful, educated woman full of grace, dignity, and most of all, who had the strength to survive. From her upbringing in a broken home with a harsh mother, to the debutante, horsewoman, and journalist, the woman who would be known as Jackie married into American royalty when she married Jack Kennedy. What she didn’t know was how that life would take her on a journey of severe heartache, and she’d need all her strength to carry on.
I loved this fictionalized account of Jackie, a woman who had to reinvent herself so many times throughout the tumultuous period that this book covered and always came out looking like the very epitome of grace and strength!

And They Called it Camelot was like reading Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis' own diary.

Ms. Thornton creates a view of one woman who fell in love with a extremely rich, handsome and charismatic man. Like many men of his era he was a philanderer when it came to women. This could've broken the average woman. The thing is that Jackie was stronger than even that man who everyone saw as the "golden one".

I don't care if you thought she was weak because she "stood by her man" or if she sold herself out for fame, Jacqueline Kennedy was no sell out, didn't like the fame and loved her husband just like so many other women of her day. She was grace, strength and smarts.

The writinge was easy, lyrical and showed a side of a woman that like the novel says, no one knew when the real Jackie showed up of if she was there the whole time.

I loved reading And They Called It Camelot.

Thank you Berkely Press, Edelweiss and Stephanie Marie Thornton for the opportunity to read this book in honor of my honest review

I, like a lot of other people, am very enamored with the Kennedy's, the idea of Camelot, and in particular, Jackie. And They Called It Camelot was an excellent account, albeit fictionalized, of the life of Jackie, Jack, and the rest of the Kennedy family.

I remember where I was and what I was doing when President Kennedy was shot. That event totally took over our lives and we obsessed to know everything about them, sitting glued to our TVs for days. This story took me back to that riveting time and let me take a step into Jackie's life to better understand her, her relationships, her family, and her loves.

This is a very well written novel that delved into the life of Jackie O. I'm in awe of the research that the author had to have done to write such an interesting accounting of her life and the times. I highly recommend And They Called It Camelot.

This is the kind of historical fiction novel that made me fall in love with that genre. The writing style pulled me in from the beginning.

This story takes you into life of Jackie Kennedy Onassis. All the love, heart-ache, and tragedy that made up the life of the iconic Jackie.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for my honest review.
