A relatively quick read that didn't strike me as more than just okay. It gives some insight into Lao culture and history, but because so much of it is author-focused it felt almost inauthentic. Had I not visited Laos I guarantee I wouldn't have understood or cared about the book, and as it were I was struggling. It's rife with spelling/printing errors, too, which became a distraction from a book I was already a bit bored by.
