Actually finished this a while ago but forgot to post here.

This book was... fine? I really liked the political system, but the plot kept getting lost along the way. I also feel like the book was a lot longer than it needed to be. Especially since some parts of the story seemed unnecessary.

This book was a beast and yet it brought me out of my reading slump. There are so many twists and turns and secrets and betrayals and I’m absolutely in love. Highly recommend for my fantasy friends.

I just couldn't with this book. It was so bloated and and pacing was not great. I found myself avoiding my reading time for this book pretty early on, had to DNF

World building on another level.

This book is such a perfect example of world-building done right. Once you begin to catch onto character names and kingdoms, the story begins to flow much smoother.

However, my only conflict with this story is pacing. The beginning of the novel took some time to finally get somewhere and it delayed my reading speed. And … the ending. I’m not disappointed by where the ending left us. I just feel like I read through 700-something pages for a 20 page battle … it felt somewhat anti-climactic?

It was so long and took me a month to read but it was so good. the first time I went to read this I was going to take notes to keep up with the world building but the best way to loose yourself in this book is to just read. this was also my intro to fantasy which was a choice but it was wonderful, only qualm is the east storyline was boring until something that showed a true connection between every story being told. women!
