would have greatly benefited from having more of the promised topic, analysis of the obsession with “dead girls” which trailed off after doing so great in the first few chapters
Moderate: Eating disorder, Sexism, Sexual assault, Sexual content, Sexual violence, Suicide, Toxic relationship, Violence, Toxic friendship, and Sexual harassment
Minor: Body horror, Chronic illness, Death, Mental illness, Misogyny, Racism, Vomit, Police brutality, Medical content, Mass/school shootings, Pregnancy, and Alcohol

I've only recently got into reading non-fiction and I was so excited to read this book, it felt like it would be right up my street. But like many other reviewers have pointed out this book is not really what it was marketed as which was hugely disappointing. Like so many of the books and shows the author talks about, we expect the story of the Dead Girl "but the story was elsewhere".
Another that bothered me with this is when celebrities were examined and the paparazzi and public's reaction and influence their lives was explored, the celebrities really didn't get much exploration and I felt like they were left as these one dimensional people that the media tends to portray them as. I just wasn't fond of the use of their stories.

Graphic: Mental illness, Sexual assault, and Murder
